Stretched out on the foothills along the southern shore of Lake Maggiore in Lombardy, this itinerary offers a splendid vision of the lake from the straits of Sesto Calende to the Verbania basin and the Borromean islands and, on the other side, of the Rocca di Angera and the crowning peaks of the Alps leading up to the massif of Mount Rosa.
Go toward Cheglio from the City Park of Taino. After passing Via Pasubio and then Via Varese, take the unpaved track through the forest to reach Capronno. Near the cemetery, turn left onto the unpaved track toward Cadrezzate. This passes through Montecalvo and circles back near the cemetery of Capronno. From here, turn left onto the Verbano Path, marked VB, for 2 km. When you reach the playing field of Taino, take the uphill Via Firenze on the right. The road climbs steeply, becomes an unpaved track and descends to the Cheglio settlement. Near the little church dedicated to St John the Baptist, turn left to return to the starting point.
