Through woods and cane thickets, two ring itineraries circumnavigate two lakes blessed with the signs of nature, history and human endeavour. A third ring will also lead you to Lake Maggiore, dominated by the Rocca of Angera.
The two lakes are each surrounded by a complete ring, linked to each other by a path that skirts the Brabbia swamp, connecting Cassinetta with Varano Borghi. This is an easy itinerary of just over thirty kilometres. It forks off from the bike path at Mercallo dei Sassi, leads to Ispra and then follows the Lake Maggiore shore to Angera and its Rocca.
The itinerary can also be divided into multiple sections. There are many parking areas along the route.
The most convenient train stations for the itinerary around the lakes in the province of Varese are Ternate-Varano Borghi and Gavirate. For the Lake Maggiore section, you can arrive at Taino-Angera or Ispra.
